One of my favorite things about the changing seasons is changing up my home decor. I’ve really embraced the farmhouse style this autumn, and I’ve been on a mission to find fall farmhouse decor ideas on a budget. From shopping sales to finding easy DIYs to try, I’ve been able to achieve exactly the look I want in my home without spending too much money.
Why rustic farmhouse decor?
Although it’s been around for ages, the rustic farmhouse look has become increasingly popular in interior design. This is probably due in no small part to Joanna Gaines and Fixer Upper! She’s really brought the modern farmhouse style into the mainstream.
It’s a style that adds a warm, cozy, and country-like feeling to any space. It really makes any house feel like a home. One of the best parts? It’s incredibly easy and affordable to decorate your home with rustic farmhouse decor!
Farmhouse decor blends together natural elements, neutral tones with hints and touches of brighter colors, and weathered materials like galvanized metal and reclaimed wood. You can combine brand new items with antiques and classic vintage pieces that you love. It’s simple, charming, and yet chic at the same time.
What’s also great for those of us who like (or need) to decorate our homes on a budget is how cheaply and affordably it can be done. A little bit of craftiness and creativity can go a long way. If you’re ready to give your home a farmhouse decor makeover this fall without spending much, here’s some easy ideas and tips to keep in mind:
Use natural elements
One of the features of the farmhouse style is incorporating natural elements into the design. Flowers, greenery, pine cones, and acorns are just a few of the things you can use to enhance your fall farmhouse look. You can easily find pine cones, branches, acorns, and leaves, so you won’t have to spend a dime.
A budget friendly way to add the beauty of flowers and greenery to your home is by using faux floral items. You can realistic flowers and leaves of all types and in all kinds of colors at craft stores, but also at the Dollar Tree.
I was hesitant to use fake flowers for a long time, because I worried that they would look too cheap and obviously fake. I decided to give them a chance this fall, and I’ve actually been really pleased! My budget doesn’t have room for fresh flowers every week, so fake is the affordable and practical way to go.
Dollar Tree DIYs
If you’re decorating your home for each season and individual holidays, the Dollar Tree is your best bet! You can take so many of their seasonal items and craft supplies to create easy, stylish DIY pieces. Something that may not look too great as a decor item on it’s own can be used to make a decor piece that will really stand out. Look at items as starting points for a beautiful finished product, and you’ll quickly see their value.
Even if you don’t consider yourself skilled with a hot glue gun, you can try really easy crafts that require little to no creative thinking! YouTube and Pinterest both provide a wealth of ideas. If you find something that you like, but you aren’t sure you’ll be able to do it, watch YouTube tutorials. There are so many inspiring videos out there that’ll give you both ideas and the confidence to try them out. Here are some links to a few of my faves for fall farmhouse decor:

Seasonal decor discounts
Changing your home decor out every season by buying new items can get very pricey. Instead, focus on finding standout pieces that you truly love by shopping with coupons and looking for discounts. Stores like Michaels, JoAnn’s, and A.C. Moore almost always have coupons available for regular priced items. You can typically find 30%, 40%, and even 50% off. Never pay full price at one of these stores!
When shopping without a coupon, only purchase when items are already discounted. Again, these particular retailers are always offering different discounts on certain departments and product lines, often as much as 50% off of the regular price! You can find fall farmhouse decor items for a steal.
Rustic farmhouse decor is ideal in every season. It brings a warm, cozy vibe to your rooms in the fall and winter, and in the spring and summer it makes rooms feel light and airy. Do you have any favorite fall farmhouse decor ideas to share? I’d love to hear!
