I don’t know about you, but after finally polishing off all of the sweets we had accumulated over the Christmas holidays, I am in no rush to bring more bags of chocolates into the home!
Now before you think I’m being a bad bunny by not filling up my kid’s baskets with candy, I’ve already got it covered! There will be a few sweets, of course, but there’s also going to be a few fun and practical items, as well. The best part? I didn’t spend much money.
If you’re trying to avoid a sugar overload this Easter, there are plenty of cheap and sweet alternatives. So many of these goodies can be found at the dollar store. Here are some fun and frugal Easter basket ideas for things that aren’t candy:
- Toothbrush and toothpaste
- Hair accessories
- Character band-aids
- Nail polish or nail stickers
- Lip Balm
- Fun socks
- A new outfit
- Sunglasses
- Flip Flops
- Sippy cup or water bottle
- Playing cards
- Flash cards
- Workbooks
- Coloring books
- Storybooks
- Crayons
- Sidewalk chalk
- Watercolor Paints
- Washable markers
- Colored pencils
- Stickers
- Stamps and ink pads
- Cheap arts and crafts kits
- Puzzles
- Lego Sets
- Play-Doh
- Bubbles
- Kite

What are your favorite items to put in Easter baskets? Do you avoid candy and sweets?
Excellent ideas, will need to show Mrs. T this for Easter basket ideas.
These are some really great ideas. This year I am creating easter eggs and I want to stir far away from the whole candy fest and make the basket fun. Never thought about putting some of these items inside. Thanks for the tip.
